After going over the required reading, there were several instances where I was extremely intrigued with the material. These include the connection between science and philosophy, and how curiosity and virtue are instincts that have been developed to give us an evolutionary advantage. Furthermore, the idea that finding the truths to the wonders of life is what brings true happiness into a scientist’s life is very true and inspiring.

I like how the author says that science is really just philosophy at first, but then it gets turned into the facts and theories that are widely accepted today. Curiosity is needed in science because without curiosity, we would stay at a stand-still and never evolve. Moreover, this curiosity is instinctive because we become increasingly scared about the unknown, so we invest billions of dollars to uncover these wonders to decrease the amount of anxiety we may feel towards these topics. Finally, the idea of scientific virtues that are developed over years and years of practicing could not be closer to the truth. I work in a genetics lab, and the amount of knowledge to succeed is substantial; however, the protocols, requirements, and certifications necessary to be considered legit is what makes the science tough. However, when all of these systems are finished, and true results come up that are substantial and indicating a discovery, it is a truly satisfying experience.
