I find a deep connection with Barbara McClintock as the biography discusses her livelihood of being alone. Many times I find myself enjoying time studying, or increasing my knowledge in scientific concepts that others may find boring, tedious, or even extremely challenging. I can relate to Barbara McClintock, because she had a very unconventional lifestyle as a scientist just like myself as a college premed student. One thing that I cannot relate to is the fact that she was a woman in a time where women were not expected to contribute that much to science. She had to fight to get her spot in research, and to make a name for herself. Overall, I think that she was an inspirational woman for her time, because she went against the odds to do what she was passionate about.
